An important office building, but beside its obvious granduer, there is important business being conducted there and not all of it takes place in the chambers of Congress.
My concern is that, the American people pay for that building and that there are issues of Sunshine and access that are being ignored and shunted aside without objection in the name of anti-terrorism.
The government has a legitimate concern in keeping our government free of terror, however that interest must be tempered with the people's right to have access to both their representitives and the building that harbors their democracy. Finding a medium of security without cutting off access is the job they should have been doing. Instead they just shut it down and claim it is better than dying at the hands of a bomber. I pretty convinced that is not true. I for one would rather die than give in to terrorists threats. At least I could say my death was in not only defending freedom, but practicing it as well. That Lawyer Dudehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00621463114160360197noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8477806.post-63367698772943227342007-02-22T23:49:00.000-05:002007-02-22T23:49:00.000-05:00the same thing happened to us. we were stopped bec...the same thing happened to us. we were stopped because we didn't have a tour guide. and yeah i was frustrated and annoyed by all of the security and everything. but then i walked into the senate gallery. and none of it mattered. i didn't care how long it took me to get there or how inconvenient it was. i was there. it took my breath away. i don't know if all of that security is necessary or not. but, it just seemed insignificant compared to the feeling of being there for the first time. i guess what i'm saying is that i'll leave the security debate to you jaded adults. :) i'm too busy dreaming about what goes on beyond the metal detectors.mroganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18188316969095807168noreply@blogger.com
